    Ethan,

The 1965 MS64 SMS Kennedy DDO/DDR you picked up, is it the DDO-004 / DDR-001 or FS-801? If so, nice pick up (PCGS has a habit of mis - atributing this variety), if it is the FS-801 you have a $250 coin there when residing attributed correctly in a PCGS slab.

    Morgandude11,

I’m not sure how old Ethan is, I didn’t take it from his post that he thinks he’s an expert – just caught up with the excitement of his recent pickups. To me, it is nice to see some excitement when a new coin or upgrade is found, especially for a Kennedy half dollar collector.

Ethan will learn, like everyone else, that CAMEO and ULTRA (DEEP) CAMEO means different thing to different people even different third party grading companies.

I recently picked up a 1971-S Kennedy in a new ANACS holder graded 68DCAM and attributed as the FS-101. From the pictures in the auction I knew it was the DDO-017 instead of the DDO-004 (FS-101) and it would be an upgrade to the DDO-017 we already had. When we sent the coin into PCGS for grading, it came back PR68 only (not even CAMEO let alone DCAM like ANACS gave it).

Don’t ignore him; help him out if he asks. This hobby is supposed to be fun.

Just my thoughts on the subject,

    Tim

EDITED TO ADD: Ethan, I forgot to tell you that Morgandude11 wanted someone to tell you that he has a “high grade JFK collection”. I wouldn’t know what a “high grade JFK collection” was, or how it effected the status of someone’s expertise.

Oh well - I can only say what I see, I know not of your Expertness.

I never said I was.....I just think the 65 I posed has MORE cameo than the Slabbed one you posted which is NOT cam according to the experts..

    It is what it is....

I will have to check - they guy I bought it off of is a cherrypicker Pro..all he had was errors. Heading to work now..

46 still a kid I guess depending..Oh I know the companies are different, its why I buy graded examples to learn. I know my 65 will not DCAM because of the Reverse but it would sure Star or Plus maybe..

He can ignore me all he wants, I could care less. However he had a smiley so I think he was venting....who knows?

Well I think that Loyds19 is also a Kennedy dude and I caught him on one..so none are perfect.

Morgandude11 As long as it's Silver, I'm listening

I just wanted him to know that I have collected the entire series, and own many very high grade JFKs (overall, every coin is high gem, and all of my slabbed coins are 67-70, and mostly cameos for all the proofs). That does't make me better or more skilled than any other collector--it just means that I was willing to spend time and money upgrading coins to get a really nice set--both my Dansco Kennedys, and the slabbed ones. I would glad to help any enthusiastic collector, but don't want to play the "My coin is better than yours" game--that is really infantile. One should strive for the nicest coins that they can afford, and not go off in 200 directions at the same time.

Congrats - I do not own that many high grade I guess but I have some really fun ones, some slabbed some not...I think this weekend I bought my most valuable one, the 66 NoFG...

That is cool but even some of the more savvy Kennedy collectors miss things. Here check 19lyds comment here. I gained some respect for him as that was the first time he ever did something like that to me anyway...+1 to him.

    No issues here..none at all..

    Well lets see a second...

I think that my 65 that I am fairly sure will DCAM on the obverse in the coin in which you posted your picture of a 65. Going back I see you were talking of the grade...and MY 1967 DCAM.

I guess the confusion was I think my 1965 CAMEO's better than your 65 you posted. I think we misunderstood each other..

Still on my 1965 the Obverse CAMEO effect on my 1965 is better than the picture of the one 1965 that you posted, as it better than the slabbed one I posted also. I just can not take a picture to save my backside.

    I agree...

The thread is about a possible candidate of this 1967 DCAM to be regraded if CONSERVED. I think all they would do is dip it anyway. I wonder if they would feel an obligation to at least bump the grade one.

Some here have said that it is not a 65 because of the stain. I think it might be. It would be a good experiment to send a PCGS DCAM to NGC for conservation and to see how they would handle it. Personally, I have no coin I want to send in really except my 1952 Superbird Quarter.

    Still - interesting thought no?

    Now on to this journey.....
