I haven't seen the ad but I don't buy from Littleton. Read the fine print. They have numerous low ball offers like this one, but you agree to receive future shipments of coins which you can inspect and buy or return. The return postage will offset any value in what you bought. Just not worth it to me. To many other places so can buy from and avoid this.

I have not, but ive heard that getting their deals puts you into some sort of subscription thing. I am not 100% sure though

Between looking in loose change and visiting a LCS, you can probably spend <$1 making your own set (and probably better quality!).

    Why would I waste $2.86?

Was the steel reprocessed? I have a feeling that they would be.

@Collecting Nut is correct.... Look, Littleton fills a void for some folks. When I was serving overseas in the Army in the late 1970’s I looked very forward to receiving their bi-monthly installment of over priced stuff. Yes, buying their loss-leader will get you signed up for their coins on approval program. They are typically average coins with a premium cost.

It says right on the advertisement that the steel cent is reprocessed. They know what they are doing.

Buy it if you want. Just be aware that you will also receive other coins every month or so from them. You will either have to buy the coins or send them back at your expense.

It's up to you but you will receive future shipments for your review. You must buy them or return at your cost. Read the fine print in the ad.

This. They will send you perhaps a silver eagle and a half dozen fairly common coins "on approval". From what I have seen, the grades they assign are fair, but their prices are quite high.

I've been banned from buying from Littleton.

Yes, they send free or cheap stuff, you bite, and you are automatically in their monthly program. All you have to do though is call up and cancel - which you can do before they even send you the first month's installment. I think I did this one too many times and they banned me.

Perhaps I am being dense here, but . . . I don't see anything in the ad about agreeing to receive future coins on approval, etc. Wouldn't the ad have to say so if they did that?
