I love it when a coin goes through the dreaded cycle of doubt to vindication! Congrats to you Red Spork. And besides, if it did turn out to be fake you could have used it as a door stop!
It didn't bother me (if he was being rude, he was being rude to JA ... I just giggled) ... I just wanted to toss-in the big sister comment
I do, but as I stated in a previous post, I am no expert on them, which is why I referred red_spork to Daniel Wolf. I even stated that I hoped, for his sake, that my suspicions were unfounded, and I'm truly happy for him that they were. One cannot exercise too much vigilance when making important acquisitions.
This group shot is a good example of how it can vary. You can see that it widens near the base of each coin but you can also see that it is almost nonexistent in some places. and there are even some flat spots on the edge of the tiny Sv. 840.
@red_spork - I love that photo! It really does a good job highlighting what you're talking about, not to mention having the family together. It also make the taper on your newest easier to see, except where it's hiding in it's own shadow
Hi Red_spork, I have the same question as you had about authenticity of recently purchased Ptolemy coin, could you be so kind and provide me an email of the person you reached out to regarding the authenticity of your ptolemy coin thank you so much, Best, Svarog
If I were you I'd post it over on FORVM Ancient Coins and ask for an opinion on it. I posted mine over there as well and there are many people very knowledgeable about these types.
