    Nice to know your expanding collecting areas lordmarcovan. Here’s a Sassanian of mine I don’t think you’ve seen yet, a Khosrau I drachm. Not as nice as my Hormizd, but full details.

    Hmm. All these broad flans with those wide borders really make my trimmed example stick out like a sore thumb. Eh, oh, well. I still like pretty much everything else about mine, especially the contrasting toning.

    @arashpour : @dougsmit is correct, your coin is of Ardashir I. There is no mint or date on the coin- those weren't introduced on Sasanian coins until later.

    Whether it's authentic: I don't see anything that would make me feel it is fake, but I can't be sure it's real just based on photos. In general, while some coins can be definitively condemned as fake just based on a photo, it's not a good idea to give a definite "genuine" based only on photos.
