From the comments on Eduard's post on his really nice 1800 large cent newp, it would appear that many here are not aware of the Newman Numismatic Portal https://nnp.wustl.edu/.

The portal was founded by Eric Newman, who is sadly no longer with us. The portal is loaded with numismatic literature, mint records, auction catalogs, etc. It really has become indispensable to serious numismatic research.

Most of the specialist club periodicals are on the portal, so you can peruse The John Reich Journal (early silver and gold), Penny-Wise (early copper), The Gobrecht Journal (seated), etc. to research a coin or just get an idea of the info therein (and then hopefully join).

You can search the early issues of the ANS's American Journal of Numismatics from 1866 thru 1917 or the later issues from 1989 on.

There are search features, so you can find articles on 1799 large cents, for example, and even limit that to auction catalogs, books, or periodicals.

I strongly encourage you to take a look. There's a wealth of info there.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Amazing resource, and one that I use frequently. I've spent the last few nights reading a book on there about a coin that I will be buying soon.
