Nice! I have a 50-center from 1917, but it's worn through the bottom of the crown. I don't mind, because I like to show it around.

as well 1917 newfoundland 50 cent pieces as you mentioned

heres a few 1917 newfoundland 50 cent pieces theres one or two
that seem to have more slim numbers and letters on them

Nice ones. I like the straightforward design of the coin.

yes they are 9.25 silver. i have lots of them these seem to be in the best kept shape as there were bought from an older woman who's mother had them and kept them in a sealed case. i have about 11 of the 1919 and 32 of the 1917

sorry i ment to say they are 92.9 % silver mintage on the 1917 is 464,779 and the 1919 is 163,939 pretty low mintages as are most newfoundland coins in the seriesseems according to the charlton guide for newfoundland coins non for eaither year have been graded at a ms 65 ms64 for the 1917 listes at 600.00
and ms64 for the 1919 is listed at 3500.00

You could get a retail price from the J and M catalogue. The 1917c has a very high mintage of over 464,000 so is only of value at AU50 and higher. The 1919c has a lower mintage of 163,000 and is quite valuable in MS grades. You might pick out your best 1919's and send two or three for grading if you were inclined to sell. All the best, marbury518
