The 57 and 59D arrived from TT today, and look great in hand. The 47's color on the back is much "softer" than the speckly look in the photos...the blue is just perfect. It's just a hint of gorgeous deep blue sky color at just the right angle, it's wonderful. I'm very pleased with this start.
I'll try, but I'm afraid I'll get them substantially as TT did, and not get the smoother, softer effect. Maybe I'll try some video...the new(ish) Canon will do it...
4 more tonight. 1951-D NGC MS64 FBL : Picked this one up for right around the going price in various auctions. Reasonably clean obverse for an NGC 64 holder, and better than average strike on the reverse, even for an FBL imo. 1954-D PCGS MS64 FBL : Another one right around the going average, but with a particularly clean obverse imo. Couple of dings at the top of my head, but I personally don't find them distracting.
1961-D PCGS MS64 FBL : This one came in about 10% below recent auction prices, so somewhat surprised I won it. I'm especially pleased with the strike on this one. I've developed a fondness for reverses with a readable Pass And Stow legend on the bell, and this one has it in spades for a 64. Combine that with the decent price, and I'm quite pleased here. And finally, yeah...I overpaid...but...well...I couldn't help myself. 1955 PCGS MS64FBL
Purchased this last night. 1948D NGC MS64 FBL Particularly pleased with the strike on this one. Well defined crack in the bell, the Pass and Stow legend clear and readable, and even nice detail in the obverse, including the wisps of hair to the right of Franklin's ear. A really well struck example of the type, imo.
The 63-D arrived Wednesday, and is really quite appealing in hand, imo. I'm very pleased with this addition. An so, the hunt for the next victim begins.
