Very recently inherited some coinage & 'Medals' that I'd like to get 'ballparkish' values on.

For example America's First Medals, various years Prestige Sets, Korean War Memorial coins, Jamestown 400th Anniversary, etc.

Recommendation re something Amazon and/or my local Barnes & Noble would have that would cover all such? Or updatable software?

In advance...many many sincere thanks & a happy 4th weekend!!

Go for one of the Krause World Coin Catalogs; many public libraries have copies.

Ah, you came in right around the time I finally left. I was there from 80 to 93, moved to PA for a few years after that but got my last VT degree in 95 (computer science).

I do miss Blacksburg, despite all its changes.

Just make sure you remember one thing @Hokies416 - price guides, not a single one of them, are not worth the paper they are printed on ! The majority of the time, the values listed in price guides are not even close to - use the word you used - ballparkish !

If you wish to know actual, real world value, then lookup realized prices. And you can't just look 'em up "anywhere", you need to look them up at trusted resources like these -

    https://coins.ha.com/

    https://www.coinarchives.com/

    https://www.acsearch.info/

And you also need to be able to grade your coins to at least some degree so that you can fairly compare them to the coins you're looking up.

What I'm trying to tell you is - there is a LOT you've got to learn before you'll even be capable of looking up values for coins !
