Also, the endoscope is very portable as against one of those magnifying lamp with a built in light. Nice for shows and dealers.
If you look back through the thread, you'll see that several of us suggested she start with common, lower value SLABBED coins on Ebay, not raw coins... either the 64 Kennedy she was originally interested in, or coins from her father's birth year. I think it's a disservice to the OP to paint Ebay with a blanket condemnation. Can she get ripped off there? Sure, if she doesn't know what she's doing. But the way to learn how to negotiate Ebay safely and successfully is with practice, and the coins being suggested are a reasonably safe way to start that learning process. If you've been burned on Ebay, my condolences. I've bought coins there, occasionally, for many years and have never been burned. @Dnna, the key is to acquire solid knowledge of the coins you're shopping for, BEFORE you start shopping. Learn to recognize warning signs (poor photos, for example, among others). Always be skeptical. Always keep your emotions in check. And always be willing to walk away. The coin you want can be found later.
I am a buyer not a seller and if you condone eBay fraud it's your business. IMO more people should take an active role in stopping fraud on any website that sells coins, it is destroying your hobby ebay.com or otherwise. Seriously! And your reference to "L'il Abner" is quite a ridiculous statement and is unnecessary in the forum and insulting. @LA_Geezer
Apologies to the OP however I'm new here too and deserve a little consideration in my opinion. You know very well where the majority of fraud comes from and if you read the entire thread you would have seen the other comment on purchasing slabs as an alternative. I'm not here to be vilified by senior experienced members and wish to be an asset to new collectors because I'm still there. The comments made by @LA_Geezer and a few others are uncalled for and show the medal certain individuals personalities.
Wow. I hope you took some good photos of that coin as I've never seen a Philadelphia minted coin from 1338. LOL
I want to start a new conversation. I can find a tab labeled "Start a Conversation" but after typing the message and clicking "Send" it says I need a recipient. My recipient is "Any and All on CloinTalk" - not just a particular person. What to do?
A conversation is a private nesssge. You need to start a new thread. Go to Forums and pick the one that applies. Type your message, attach photos and make your statement or ask questions. Itvtdkes time but you'll learn. Welcome to CT.
Welcome to Coin Talk. Since you're new and may not know where the forums button is, it's at the very top and bottom of any thread you open.
