As many of you know, I love sorting through the "junk" foreign silver, trying to rescue as many beautiful coins from the melt pile as I can. Here are some of my rescues from the past week: Bahamas - 1972 $2 Mintage of 65,000 Canada - 1951 10 Cents Double Die Reverse Jamaica - 1972 $10 (1.4 oz of silver - woof!) Mintage of 42,000 Panama - 1931 1 Balboa Mintage of 200,000 Panama - 1933 Half Balboa Mintage of 120,000 Peru - 1801 2 Reales (holed) Philippines - 1921 50 Centavos Russia - 1915 10 Kopeks #1 Russia - 1915 10 Kopeks #2
South Africa - 1962 10 Cents South Africa - 1969 1 Rand Double Die Reverse (other photos here) Mintage of 506,000 (unknown how many DDR there are) Uruguay - 1981 So 100 Nuevos Pesos Mintage of 25,000
Yes, sir...and it will go with the 1 Real (1830 Zacatecas), 2 Real (1798 Peru), 2 Real (an 1849 San Luis Potosi, also holed), and 4 Real (1805 Mexico City) I picked up last week...along with a handful of 50 centavos and lower denomination coins I picked up last week but haven't even begun to photograph yet. It's been a good couple of weeks!
And here is one that's not silver (but I'm also really excited about!) Sweden - 1812 1/12 Skilling w/ Mint clip
It's out there. Besides, I can't keep all of it. Some of this is already on my site. (I don't want to go any further with that, because this isn't a B/S/T thread.)
No problem at all! Sometimes I'm just overjoyed to take photos of these magnificent items and share them with everyone. I hope I never, ever sound boastful - because it's truly a joy for me...
