DSCF0343.JPG DSCF0344.JPG Nice one RO!!! It's certainly one I can't recall seeing much of---if at all of late on any auction site.

My sole Vitellius is a denarius of Rome with the seated Concordia PM reverse:

That may be the oddest and nicest portrait of Vitellius that I have ever seen. Most portraits are like Mat's and Mikey's. I would love to have that coin ro1974. I will have to keep an eye open for one.

This is my best portrait coin of Vitellius even though the coin itself is rather poor.

it may be a bit rarer than even you think...this is one of the 'matches' I found of a denarius from Spain like yours and it went for over 1K (And I love your example far more!!):

As others have said, that's a marvelous, expressive portrait. The portrait is so good, as a matter of fact, that the mount damage doesn't even bother me. Nice find!

I like those spanish portraits of his better than others, good catch ro !

Here's mine from Rome. I couldn't afford the spanish one I lurked at when it came up and had to let it go. Anyway, this is the Wildwinds example

I'm not chasing a Twelve Caesars set (yet) but this recently offered Vitellius was very tempting! NAC 84 lot 1808. The portrait is so full of character.

That portly image certainly seems to add credence to Suetonius' characterization of him...I can almost hear him belch and ask if I had my breakfast yet??? LOL
