I've been around here for a while. I've decided to start a new YouTube channel. I love making videos, especially educational videos. I have several other channels on youtube on everything from computers to guns. So this is the first video of my new series about bullion. I just picked a coin at random and the first video is the Kennedy Half Dollar. I plan on doing 4 or 5 videos and then I'll wait to see if people are watching and subscribing before I make any more. I was on here earlier today asking for confirmation of how the 40% coins were minted because I wanted to make sure my information was accurate. You'll see the little animation I did as a result. So you'll probably see me asking similar questions in the future so that I can make sure I know what I'm talking about.
Here's the second video I made. This one is on the Eisenhower Dollar.
These videos are excellent! Very professionally done! However, you can buy Ike dollars that are copper-nickel that have an S mint mark within those dates. There were "proof sets" that included Ikes and Kennedy halves that had an S mint mark from 1976 that weren't made of silver. I find it very confusing and stick with the 1971 and 72 since anything with an S mintmark during those two years is silver.
I very much like your videos but would like to see a few more second of video telling like what some of the other posters are saying, Like not all S Ike's are silver and, You can melt Kennedy's as far as I know. And maybe the 40% Kennedy s mint marks made in the 70's But other than that very very professional I really enjoyed them. JON
You know, when I was reviewing the video before posting it to youtube, I had wondered if the wording on the S mint mark would be confusing. I simply stated that if it was not an S then it was not silver. However, I should have added in some extra words saying that "just because it IS an S, doesn't mean it is silver." I had also asked about the brown ikes on this forum a while back for some clarification on whether any of those were not silver. I never got a straight forward answer, so I assumed all blue and brown ikes were silver. Oh well, that is why I put the disclaimer on the end saying there might be mistakes.
Your wish is my command.. I made the War Nickel next.. here's the video:
I just had time to look at the Kennedy video. Nice quality and well done. Suggested changes: 1. Yes, it is allowed to met them and 2. There are silver proof and BU Kennedy halves produced in 1976, silver proofs produced from 1992 to present, and also a low mintage satin silver Kennedy produced in 1998. TC
Now wait a minute.. Everyone on here is always talking about the "melt ban" so when did it become legal to melt Kennedys? Unfortunately, once a youtube video is posted, it cannot be changed. I'd have to pull down the video and upload a new one. Which would break all of the links to the video, etc. So I try pretty hard to make sure the information is accurate before I upload, but there are just so many details.
