<p>[QUOTE="Pellinore, post: 2775130, member: 74834"]I hope you don't mind that I'm hanging my post under this splendid series. I want to draw attention to <a href="https://www.cointalk.com/threads/first-tetradrachm-of-trajan-decius.291167/#post-2651841" class="internalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="https://www.cointalk.com/threads/first-tetradrachm-of-trajan-decius.291167/#post-2651841">this older thread</a>, too. That one contains a link of Dougsmit to an <a href="https://www.cngcoins.com/Search.aspx?PAGE_NUM=&PAGE=1&TABS_TYPE=2&CONTAINER_TYPE_ID=1&IS_ADVANCED=1&ITEM_DESC=decius+antioch+tetradrachm&ITEM_IS_SOLD=1&SEARCH_IN_CONTAINER_TYPE_ID_1=1&SEARCH_IN_CONTAINER_TYPE_ID_3=1&SEARCH_IN_CONTAINER_TYPE_ID_2=1&SEARCH_IN_CONTAINER_TYPE_ID_4=1" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="https://www.cngcoins.com/Search.aspx?PAGE_NUM=&PAGE=1&TABS_TYPE=2&CONTAINER_TYPE_ID=1&IS_ADVANCED=1&ITEM_DESC=decius+antioch+tetradrachm&ITEM_IS_SOLD=1&SEARCH_IN_CONTAINER_TYPE_ID_1=1&SEARCH_IN_CONTAINER_TYPE_ID_3=1&SEARCH_IN_CONTAINER_TYPE_ID_2=1&SEARCH_IN_CONTAINER_TYPE_ID_4=1" rel="nofollow">impressive CNG list</a> of Trajan Decius tetradrachm varieties. </p><p><br /></p><p>I bought this Trajan Decius tetradrachm a short while ago. It's in excellent condition. It is one of the earliest issues of the new emperor, dating from the year 249. It has a different obverse text from the various Wildwinds tetradrachms: AYTOK K ΓAI ME KYIN ΔEKKIOC CEB. Autok(rator) K(aisar) Gai(us) Me(ssius) Quin(tus) Decius Seb(astes). The title Traianus, given to Decius by the Senate, is not yet present. Besides, his name is spelled with a double K, 'Deccius'. There are no dots under the portrait. I didn't see this variation in the CNG list. I believe this is Prieur 500 (but I don't have that book), a rarer variety.
