Wow! The last I heard there were only less than a dozen of these known. They weren't reported until the '90's so maybe they're starting to turn up a little.
No, I don't, but the photos are too blurry for my poor eyes to tell if the lips are PMD or not. Chris
Not bad for your first attempt, Giorgio! Now, I'm going to be a pain in the hindquarters and ask if you can provide a microphoto of the mintmark. I tried zooming in, but it became too blurry for me to see anything. Besides my mint error missing the clad layer (I forgot to mention that it only costed 68c from the Mint.), I think this one (non-error/variety) has got to be my favorite of the series. Chris
1968-S Kennedy Inverted Mintmark FS-511 Closeup--Maybe Yes, the 1998-S Matte Finish are gorgeous coins. Well, in advance, I don't think my closeup is going to work. This is the mintmark on the 1968-S FS-511, Inverted Mintmark, PR65 PCGS. But here goes ... if you can't see anything, it looks just like the one in Cherrypickers' :vanish:
No. I have to resize them once to crop out all of the stuff around the slab, and I have found that a second resizing ruins what resolution there is.
Yeah, the resolution isn't good enough for me to do anything with it. Any time I try to enhance it, it just goes to crap.
I have looked and looked for the 1964 SMS set with no luck at all. Where in the heck did you come across that? Did you have the full set? Chris
The 1972-D No FG could be considered a die state variety (the same as a Bugs Bunny Franklin or PegLeg IKE) since the initials were polished off by an over enthusiastic mint employee. After examining both coins I had, this was apparent as the tail feathers and stars below those feathers on the 1972D are pretty much obliterated by the polishing. That fellow must of had some OCD or spousal issues which he took out on the die. As for the 1982 No FG? That die set looks like it was just outright abused! LOL Die pits and die polishing "ruts" galore!
Some Photos of New and Old Kennedy Toys I thought you would enjoy seeing some photos from Todd of BluCC Photos. He does a great job, I think. This coin has unusual color that I could never capture, but it was a cinch for him. It also has some of the kind of die erosion around the 4 in the date and ST that is more often seen on a Capped Bust half than a Kennedy. This increases its appeal to me.
