Hi everyone! I’m new to coin collecting and I have two 1965 Quarters that I believe have errors. I have posted pics with the description for each one below. Please let me know if a better picture is needed. Thank you all in advance, I’m very new at this and all input is appreciated! #1- the claws of on the eagle are missing. Is this an error or is this just a damaged coin? #2- possibly a DDO?? The “B” & “R” in Liberty seem to be more filled in. Side note: I took multiple pictures of each coin with some using the zoom option on the camera, and others under a magnifying glass. Thank you all again! Please let me know if better pics are needed!
IMHO, the first coin is worn. It could have been poorly struck in the first place, and what there was of the claws worn off. The second coin: I see no doubling. Steve
Welcome to the neighborhood @Jessica28 ! Yes, #1 looks like nothing more than circulation wear after 54 years. I see some evidence of die deterioration, so this may be the cause of the (slight) doubling. Chris
Thank you all so much for all your input! We really do appreciate it.. also thank you for being kind about it. I tried to post to a Facebook group and had to leave due to some nasty posts and this is something me and my 6 year old are doing together. We’re so happy to have found a website with a good group of knowledge people and we hope that one day we can help the newbies too!
