Okay, I know I have been away for a while but what's with all the advertisements I am seeing every time I scroll down a page, or go to a different forum. Have "we" installed an advertisement application to bring revenue to the forum? Thanks.
This forum is horrible to use without an ad blocker or having supporter status. Yes. Become a supporter but what about visitors or those who are new to the site? What kind of early impression does being surrounded by advertisements, including horribly intrusive full-screen popup advertisements, make?
I was (and still am) a new member. To be honest, the ads never really bothered me. It's very easy to click the little "close" button whenever one did pop up. It seemed to affect my laptop far more than my phone, but I just had to reload the page on my laptop as opposed to closing the ad on my phone. I suppose that now I am a "supporter" (very much worth it if you ask me... you will spend more at McDonald's) I won't have to worry about the ads? Even if I do, it still won't bother me! This site is great and so are the members!
I like it here. It's the only social media that I really engage in and I figure if I pay to be a supporter they won't make me go away..... And yeah, it does prevent the annoying advertisements. But in all seriousness, servers and maintenance of a place like this ain't free and the supporters fee is a mere pittance.
I've been a moderator (and before that, a Supporter) for so long that I forgot what the site looks like with ads. I logged out the other day, viewed the forums while still logged off, and was pretty surprised at how bad the ads are. You're right- they're pretty awful. Fortunately, there's a solution for that.
That we are pretty much like the rest of the web except we don't yet have a Stochastic Parrot (Artificual Stupid) component.
Well, thanks. I thought I had signed up to be a supporter guess I was wrong. I've always felt if one was not an athlete they should at least be a supporter.LOL
