Two coins from Vitellius depicting Mars. Both are of the 'Concensvs Exercitvvm' type
    with mars carrying an Aquila.

An as from Tarraco. Nice patina and portrait:

A Denarius, also from Tarraco. Unfortunately corroded.

I have found a total of seven Sestertii of the Concordia type (RIC 133) for Vitellius: four in museums (London, Paris, Berlin, ANS) and three in private hands (apart from your specimen and the one you found in AC search there is another one in the Berk photofile).

Interestingly, this type was only struck in RIC´s group ii (GERMAN on the obverse) in September / October of 69 aD (according to Sear´s dating) and according to my observation all of the other six specimens share the same obverse AND revers dies with your coin.

Brand new to the forum. Enjoyed all your posts. The only Sestertius I own at this time just so happens to be the coin on my profile.

I love these Thracian coins with the Mars reverse - who says the Rome mint always has the best engravers?
