Recently, I have been buying rolls of coins from the bank but the coins are all circulated. Were do you buy rolls of brand new/uncirculated coins? Do you have to buy them from the US mint?

I assume you are referring to the new issues like the Shield cent. You would have to ask someone at the bank if they have any rolls of the new coins. If you just ask for (generic) rolls, you will likely get circulated coins.

I tried asking about rolls of new coins at the Chase but they said they receive them mixed together (circulated and sometimes uncirculated).

    Luck and persistence.

The only new coin the banks can order are the presidential dollars. Otherwise, it is a crap shoot and they get what they get.....sometimes (not very often) it is new coin.

I visit a lot of banks and have even gotten new rolls from a grocery store. I noticed new LP3's in change last year, so I got some rolls of cents from a bank and came back to the store and spoke with the manager. I told him I was a coin collector and would like some rolls of the new cents. He explained they needed the pennys for their business, then I showed him my mixed rolls and could I trade. He was more than willing, and I got a bunch of the 3rd 09 lincoln issue at face.

Or, you can pay a huge premium at the mint or at a dealer. I like the hunt and ask every bank I go into if they have new pennys, nickels, dimes or quarters in rolls. Sometimes I get lucky.

At least some banks will order them for you free of charge.

They are very limited on what they can order. They used to be able to order state quarters and pres dollars, now they just do pres dollars.

Have you ever tried to do that? They will become VERY rude and aggressively sarcastic. I am not exaggerating (I have done it dozens of times and this has happened EVERY time). Their whole demeanor, stance and facial expression becomes absolutely hateful and sarcastic. Good luck with that.

I guess it largely depends upon where you live and the folks who work in the bank. I live in a less built up area and my bank and local post office folks are exceptionally friendly and helpful. At my bank, they allow me to be in the vault after closing time and let me go through loose change from their change counter, too. Also, my local post office calls my home everytime I receive a package so that I know to go there to get the piece. They are all quite accomodating.

The fed doesn't work that way now....you can only get prez dollars on order, everything else, everything, is luck of the draw.

Whenever I go to the bank to ask for boxes of pennies I just take whatever they give me. 99 times out of 100 it's a regular mixed box of rolls. I did get a sealed new box of 2009-D LP1s though. That was a nice suprise :)

But ya, I got lucky. I asked them if they ever got new boxes again to let me know and they just kind of rolled their eyes. haha

IMO, the US Mint is making a terrible mistake by not selling rolled examples of new coinage.

I saw a post somewhere in response to an inquiry as to why they did not do this and the response was along the lines that the US Mint only deals with the Federal Reserve who in turn issues the new coins to their member banks.

This is just so much malarky since if this were true, why one earth are they able to offer each of the Presidential Dollars?
How were they able to offer each of the Lincoln BiCentennial varieties?
How are they able to offer (and for how long) the new Lincoln Shield cents?
How are they able to offer the NA Dollars on a "Direct Ship" program?
How were they able to offer the 2003 Jefferson Rolls? (Yes they sold these just prior to the release of the Louisiana Purchase coins of 2004-2006) What about the 2001 Kennedy's?

It seems to me that they do not offer the new coinage simply because they don't want to. Why they don't want to take advantage of this market, especially with the current economy, is beyond me.

Coin shops, dealers, eBay, craigslist, etc etc.
My main coin shop has rolls of the 2010 lincolns, at over inflated prices, but he has them, also has rolls of other uncirculted coins, statehoods both P&D, some old shotgun rolls of Kennedys P&D.

If any of you live near a Costco and are members you can go in and ask for cash back in any form including rolls of coins. Most of the time because of the high volume of transactions we have many mixed rolls and rolls of brand new coins, just ask and they will be more than happy to make you happy. I work there its just how far our customer service goes. I also find all my coins there, so many tills so little time.

I have been doing the bank deposits for my work for the past six months, and just started collecting coins last week. When i asked them for new rolls of coins, they explained to me that for the past few years (the 'recession') there had been a huge increase in the amount of coins people bring in that they've had in jars and piggy banks. And because of this, there isn't as much need to bring in new rolls. It stinks for us looking for new rolls, but it does make sense. oh well.
