Hello How would you rate this New Rochelle? Do you think these hairlines are normal, or by cleaning? Many Thanks
Are you referring to die polish lines when you say “normal”? Sorry, but the coin looks harshly cleaned to me.
Since the lines go across the devices that is sufficient proof that the coin has been cleaned. If the lines were only in the fields (background) then there would be a very good chance that they were caused by die polishing at the Mint.
Hate to see a coin treated so badly. It's my my favorite commem ... I like ruminants. Quiz: Name another US coin that depicts a ruminant. BTW, there is more than one other. Cal
You could even stretch it to include the 1935 Spanish Trail commemorative, as long as skeletal remains count.
Yup, right on both counts. Could even stretch to buffalo bullion coins. There is at least one more. Cal
Thank you for your response. The images of the seller would be flawless. The disappointment came home. I will give her back.
I'd be interested in seeing the seller's photos of this coin. Cleaning that significant is difficult to conceal.
https://m.ebay.de/itm/USA-Half-Doll...52da62e:g:WNYAAOSwnlFak8~-#vi__app-cvip-panel I do not know how this patina comes on the picture. The coin is the same. It can be seen at the small holes next to 1938 above the A. It's actually a good dealer.
Absolutely, without a doubt in my mind, that is not the same coin. There are markers on both your coin, and the coin in the listing that are different. I don't read/speak German, but unless the listing says it is a representative or stock photo, I would never buy from them again.
Then tell them they made a mistake and you want your money back. Although they mention hairlines in the “about this item” section, your coin was harshly cleaned. I can’t tell from their auction pictures and the description doesn’t say so either.
