Thanks, that's why I bought it. I thought it had detail. I am neutral on the toning. It accents the coin nicely but I honestly wouldn't mind if it were blast white.
Despite the grade, its still a great coin and I'm surprised that it's not a MS coin. I need one of these for myself.
Beautifully toned SLQ, WL! OP's coin is wonderful. I would rather have a PCGS 58 than an NGC 62. Here's one I sold a couple of years ago. Lance.
brain fart 23456789975645432 + counting This one is toned just right!!! are you going to post the Grade?? I see now were you posted Au-58
Absolutely not! Especially on a type one. Strike characteristics between the two types may be night and day, but claiming the presence of shield rivets can be used in assigning an MS grade is nonsense. A poorly stuck coin that lacks many rivets yet has full mint luster can easily grade a 63 or higher. "63++ or 64+"? What happened to plain old MS64? Although the coin appears to be quite clean, the given grade does suggest (as do the photos) light wear on the high points. The coin is quite nice but in no way did PCGS blow this one by 5-6 points. All said, the coin appears to be the slider that it was graded as.
Ouch you just burned my 28. Great coin. Even though the 28 is fairly common, any SLQ with good strike is hard to find.
Actually, no. You are only partially correct. On type one coins, a good strike is the norm. Only on type two is it the exception. ldhair, The toning on your coin is rather unique. I've always preferred gritty toned coins such as this to the nauseatingly common white Standing Libs. Very nice, sir.
I'll second that, very nice coin. or it could 58. just can't tell from pics. I have to hold/tilt coins to check for that (maybe) bit of rub or wear. but I'll stay with 63
