New Prized Sovereign Acquisition

    That's a nice one! Looks like MS61-62 to me, full luster. What grade/service?

    Thanks! It's raw; when I bought it the prices were so low on common-date sovereigns I didn't worry about (not) buying slabbed ones. Here's an 1899 Victoria "Old Head" in a PCGS slab, AU58. BTW, how did you get started on the Canada MM sovereigns?

    I actually started getting interested in them when a charming British fellow named John the Jute was stalking these boards, but alas we have not heard from him in some time (out there, John?). He was collecting (or considering) Aussie shield backs, Jubilee Heads, and some other things. I bought the Marsh reference, the Quartermaster catalog, and it went from there. Take care!
