I picked up a couple of these this week because I wanted to support my LCS and I thought the Phoenix design was pretty cool. The premium was a bit high, but oh well that’s just what it is. What do you guys think of them?
Nice! I like the obverse (I think) the side where it says “Korean Phoenix 2020”. I don’t like the other side as much. It just feels kind of generic to me.
I like the design. Do they change them each year? I wish the U.S. mint would change designs yearly instead of the same old design year after year after year after year ........
2020 was the first year of them minting the pheonix. They've done several years of their tiger series though so I imagine they will change the designs.
Do you happen to know if KOMSCO is the South Korean equivalent to the US Mint? Like is it the government or a private mint?
@Gam3rBlake I like the Phoenix rounds. I also like the product KOMSCO puts out on a regular basis. Very nice designs. Meaningful to their culture and beautiful artwork. My grandson's mom (my DIL) is S. Korean. I picked up this one for him a couple of years ago. 1/10th oz Au.
Nice a gold one! South Korea makes some beautiful coinage. I’m trying to buy 1 oz silver bullion coins from as many countries as possible. I have the US, Canada, Mexico, Britain, Somalia, Austria, China, South Korea etc., Next up is Japan if they have one. If not Russia, Italy or France. I’ll go private mintage if there is no National Mint for those countries. Or any countries.
Yay I got in on the first one for once! Im always finding cool coin series only to find out they’re on the 3rd or 4th design and the previous years are all sold out. Like the Egyptian Gods Series by Silvertowne. It’s nice to start at the beginning.
