Is the seller breaking the eBay listing rules? Nope

Are they doing something deceitful, hoping to catch the uneducated collector? IMO, yes.

I agree with this. It's not against the rules...but it's certainly designed to take advantage of people.

Agreed. I contacted the seller with a politely phrased question regarding these holders. The response confirmed him or her to be a piece of dirt.

Oh dear. I can only imagine the level of abuse you subjected yourself to. Still, bully on your part. Let the sod rot.........

In telling you, I'd violate at least one of the Forum rules. I'd prefer to stick around here a bit longer.:)

Some of you hit on exactly what bothers me about these holders. . . They are, IMHO, clearly intended to deceive and take advantage of folks who may not be as educated as many of the collectors on this board. While many of us agree that it's not a violation of the Ebay rule as written, it's still wrong (again, IMHO, of course).

If you look at the seller's feedback, there have been a few buyers (very few) that realized after purchase that they didn't get what they thought they were getting. I've got to wonder how many others still don't realize it.

If I'm being honest (and I say this realizing that some of you are about to bust my chops), my first thought when I saw these holders was that PCGS had come up with another holder design. . . The letters I saw immediately registered as PCGS. And my primary collecting focus is on PCGS graded coins.

So, with that, allow the chop bustin' to begin. . .

While I'm on a roll. . . Again, IMHO, the Ebay rule as written is silly.

So, I could take a raw Peace Dollar, tape it (another chop bustin' deserved) to a sheet of paper, and type MS68 by D2GS (Dunk 2's Grading Service, of course). That would be perfectly fine according to the rule as written. . . I could not, however, use the MS68 grade anywhere else in the listing.

By allowing the grade in the picture, how effective is the rule forbidding use of the grade elsewhere in the listing?

P.S. I would never (ever) tape a Peace Dollar to anything!!!
