Well, Google at least tries to protect the unenlightened by offering the other suggestion but they are not doing a novice any favors by doing so.......
The TPG known as "PCSG" exists only as letters on holder tags that are also strikingly similar to the "real" PCGS tags. This same seller also has tag holders labeled PNCG with grades such as PR69DCAM. Before anyone asks, no. . . PNCG is NOT a real TPG either.
You can't pick and choose which parts of the eBay policy you read. "A coin graded by a non-approved grading company can be listed, but the numeric grade can't be included in the title, description, or item specifics. You can include an image of the coin in its graded holder even if that image shows a numeric grade on the holder." Again, let me state for the 2nd time, this seller is being misleading, but he/she is NOT breaking any of the posted eBay rules. This topic has been discussed here time and time again. The seller is only being misleading and unethical to the novice and/or newbie buyer. You simply can't police all of eBay for sellers who have unethical intent, but are meeting all of eBay's listing criteria.
brg - - No need for you to state anything a 2nd time. . . Please re-read my post immediately after the post where I quoted EBay's policy. This seller has done their homework and is clearly being misleading while at the same time not violating EBay's policy as currently written.
OK, so how do we protect the Little Red Riding hoods of the world? Short answer is you can't.........
I guarantee that deception is intentional, but I also do not believe it should be up to eBay to interpret laws to "protect" PCGS. I think this one ought to be chased by PCGS.
I agree Richard. It's up to the entity that's been infringed upon to save their honor. Is it worth it to pursue though?
Just because they're not locatable on the internet doesn't mean they weren't created by someone. It still has no link to the seller, so again, where's the fraud on the seller's part?
The only thing misleading, and it's a very thin misleading at that as most experienced collectors are well aware of what PCGS labels and holders look like even in a photo image online, is the PCSG on the label. Again, there is nothing on the listing that suggests the seller has anything to do with that label or holder. As someone has pointed out, it's not up to eBay to babysit for PCGS. The listing is within the rules of eBay's policy. Case closed. If you feel PCGS should be informed about this by all means notify them and include links to this seller's eBay store.
Looks like perhaps the seller might be associated with the entity? Especially since it's so elusive on the internet.......
More like a seed of supposition and conjecture. I didn't want to say assume, because we both know what that means
LOL! Quite agree. Lord knows I've made myself into one on more occasions than I care to remember.....
I'll never forget my first day of recruit training, when I mistakenly referred to a female SDI as Sir.
