They were the larger models, not pick-ups. The starter was a pedal on the floor, and the windshield opened up at the bottom for more ventilation. </p><p><br /></p><p>It had a hand crack in case the electric starter didn&#039;t work. You had to be careful of those. My grandfather, whom I never met, had his arm broken when the engine kicked back. His arm was never the same. </p><p><br /></p><p>He probably bought them right after World War II in the civilian vehicle market opened up again. I think that the 1940 models also looked like this.</p><p><br /></p><p>I built this model a few years ago as a reminder of those days back in the 1950s.
