Got my Lincon's via USPS today. The box was in the mailbox. When I was able to finally figure out the tracking the number jibed with fedex and an estimated delivery date of 3/2. Nice packing job. I'm very satisfied. Just hope the UHRDE isn't left in the mailbox!

So ship them with a brick - weight of the bullion is no longer 50%. And they say nothing about silver. So silver is permitted.

The mint's new distribution system uses a Fedex/USPS hybrid. You can track the package on Fedex's web site but it is handed off to and delivered by the the USPS. I received my Lincoln silver commemorative dollars today. They were left in the mailbox. This is similar to an arrangement they had in the past with DHL which also used the post office for the "last mile".

According to Coin World, the US Mint has reversed it's "no signature" policy, but only for shipments valued at over $300.

I work for UPS . The Drivers do not know what are in the packages. When they scan pkg for del. It will come up as sig. required at a res house only if it was set up that way. Per shipper or high claim address. Most times in most towns, it is driver release.[ DR.]

The latest Coin World reports that the US Mint has responded to the customer complaints by requiring signatures on packages worth more than $300. That still doesn't seem right to me because even $300 is a lot of money to lose and if a package isn't received, it's going to be the customer's word against the delivery service.

I wonder if you can still request to have a signature required on all deliveries or if you have to pay for premium shipping in order to get that.

Well, after all that, including an announcement from the US Mint that they will now require signatures for items worth over $300, my UHR was just left on my doorstep. I received email saying it had been shipped, and when I entered the tracking number, it had already been delivered. The tracking information was explicit about a signature not being required.

Does anyone know when the new policy is supposed to start?

That happened here in town. This guy was following the UPS drivers on their deliveries and picking up the packages left by the door. This went on for a few months. By the time the police caught the guy he had a house full of packages and 2 storage units also full of goodies. The man was selling the goods on Ebay.

Latest Coin World reports that the Mint is going to require signatures on all shipments over $300. Starting soon. Again. My UHRDE was on the front stoop when I left at 9:00 a.m. last week. I found it because I stepped on the corner of the box. Thankfully it didn't cartwheel down the 9 front steps! Of course there was no signature. Love the coin. The corners look beat up but the internal boxes and packaging were fine. I'm very glad it turned out for the best. Anyone hear of a bad outcome or are we just getting our panties in a knot for no reason?

With the number they are shipping out statistically there have to be some bad outcomes, But since we are a very small number of the people receiving these coins it is quite possible that no one here will be one of the unlucky ones. And in that case we might mistakenly think that there were no problems.

I read somewhere this morning that a few collectors are going to sue Pitney-Bowes the shipping contractor over the FIFO policy on the UHR's.

    Must be small claims court....:hammer:
