    Hi guys,

New member here. Just wanted to stop by and say hi. I have always been obsessed with ancient history, however, my collecting has always been focused on US type coins. Recently I have started collecting ancients and have loved every minute of it. I have really enjoyed reading the forum and have learned a lot from you guys. Anyway, looking forward to learning more from you guys!

Welcome to the Ancients Forum of CoinTalk, @CTL . I left US Coins 30 years ago, turned to Ancients, and never looked back... the History seems much more RICHER in Ancients! Enjoy your foray into Ancient History.

Greetings @CTL . I hope you will learn new things every day here on CT like I do. By the way, it’s interesting when (new) members give us in their profile where they’re from (at least the country or the state ). It shows the « International » dimension of this forum !

I'll second that. Some of us are a bit suspicious of new members because of bad experiences with trolls in the past who only wanted to make trouble on the list. Knowing, for example, that you are located in the Mid Atlantic US would enable some of us to be sure you were aware of worthwhile coin shows in Maryland and Virginia. I also suggest you post photos of your coins and ask questions other than what they are worth. Again this is driven by past experiences where we were asked to appraise coins only to see them listed on eBay the next week. We love new participants whether they are 15 or 95 (and have both ends of that span). We have specialists in a hundred ancient and medieval areas of interest. We need to know what we can do for you.

I would love to know of any shows that are near/in Texas. I recently purchased some coins from the last agora auctions(found the auction house because of a CT thread actually). As soon as they arrive I will be posting them.

Welcome. I am fairly new here myself. Like many, I think, I started out with US coins but when I held a Ptolemaic in my hand for the first time it's been nothing but ancients. I have acquired a decent collection of Carthaginian coins and I'm about 75% complete with Roman Emperors. Just began to look strongly at Parthian.

The amount of knowledge present at this board is astounding.

    Carthago delenda est!

Would love to see your Carthage collection as you post them here! I take a lot of interest in them as a crucial period in history. I have a major chunk of the Roman Emperors also, albeit I really do not focus on them, and many of mine are well circulated... looking forward to your participation!
