I know, another tet. What can I say, got this pretty cheap. Maybe due to the chipped patina, which isn't too bad in hand. Maximinus I (235 - 238 A.D.) Potin Tetradrachm EGYPT, Alexandria O: AYTO MAΞIMINOC EVC CEB Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right. R: Athena standing facing, head left, holding shield and spear; L Δ (date) across field. Dated RY 4 (237/8 AD) 9.4g 24mm Köln 2580 var. (obv. legend); Dattari 4567; K&G 65.57; Emmett 3274.4
Nice coin Mat, but what's with all the Alexandria Tets here lately? New collection strategy? Laving the women of Rome alone for a change?
Pretty much, not much left that I can afford. And I don't have a big interest in collecting empress provincials solely. And Roman Republics I rarely get bargains off. Alexandria Tets are still affordable, at this time. I did acquire a LRB from John recently, a medieval for my birthday and a Sasanian. So I still drift in other areas, as usual.
They're scarcer then someone like Nero, Hadrian and some others, but they can be found with not much trouble or premiums.
Sweet OP-addition, Mat ... it is nice to see you buying-up some sweet AE examples (I love the patina => cool eye-appeal)
