Hey ya'll! Thanks for letting me register and get a little involved with this forum. I'll be honest here...I signed up to get some education from you guys. I'm new to this coin hobby. My hobbies are mostly guns and hunting, but never got into coins until recently. I hope to get some insight into this from you all. Look forward to the chats! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Welcome to the neighborhood! How did you become interested in coins? Tell us about your coin collecting interests. Chris
Hi Chris! Just became interested one day I guess. Always looking for something new to do and learn about. It all started when I was cleaning out my grandmothers place. She had boxes of old coins. Still not sure what some of them are. After researching a little on my own I became interested into learning more. For now, just trying to get the 101 education on what to look for. Well, when you have the time, why don't you take some photos (one coin per photo) and post them in the appropriate forum so we can help you. Chris
Please do post some photos, we'd be glad to help, welcome to CT. Are they world coins, us coins, ancients?
Welcome @Spyker1982! You've chosen a great forum and a great way of introducing yourself (open to learning). What a breath of fresh air, so different than those who post about a coin they found (usually an "error" that isn't what they think it is) and then argue with opinions to the contrary. I wish I had found CT years ago. Steve
Hi Spyker!!! Welcome Aboard!!! This is a good Coin Forum to be on. My specialty is/are Franklin half dollars, so if you have any questions about the series please let me know. With regards to your coins, and for just a good basic book about coins, I would recommend "The Red Book" (NOT Chairman Mao's variant ). Officially it is called, "A Guide Book of US Coins". You can find it in any coin store or online. It gives a little bit of info about every US coin. Do NOT use the coin values in the book, except as a gross indicator of value and relative supply/demand, since coin values can change on a daily basis, and the book is only published once a year. The most important thing to remember about coin collecting is just to HAVE FUN!!!
Welcome Spyker you will learn a lot here about any subject on coins. I have only been here a couple of years and I read here daily. I do t talk a lot but I read and have learned a lot. It's here for the taking. Welcome again!!
