It's been a while since I added a Flavian to the collection. I've been concentrating on hammered British and Hadrian coins which I am way behind cataloging and photographing but I liked this coin. I don't see many left facing Titus coins. Titus. AD 79-81. AR Denarius (19mm, 3.37 g.) Rome mint, struck 1 January-30 June AD 80. Obv. Laureate head left . Rev. Wreath set upon curule chair. RIC II 109 VF
Love it, especially the portrait! Here is my right facing portrait TITUS AR Denarius OBVERSE: IMP TITVS CAES VESPASIAN AVG P M Laureate head of Titus to right REVERSE: TR P IX IMP XV COS VIII P P Wreath on curule chair Struck at Rome, January-June 80AD 3.41g, 19mm RIC 108 Ex JAZ Numismatics
Excellent example @alde! Left facing is rarer for sure. @Bing, your coin is different not only because it has a right facing portrait but also it shows the curule chair's back. Not many do.
Love the posts !! I'm missing either the left or right facing type of Titus but.... Here's a budget example of Vespasian sitting in the 'curule chair'
Nice one @alde ! Vespasian with a Seated Victory RI Vespasian 69-79 CE AR Quinarius Victory seated wreath palm RIC 802 Rare
