I only have a small collection of English counterstamps but this is a nice one I found on eBay so thought I'd add it to my collection. Samuel Drabble was in business at 1 High St. in London from 1834 until 1881 as a cutler. I don't know exactly what he manufactured, but cutlers generally make various types of cutlery including tableware, butcher and kitchen knives, etc. I've also seen cutlers who manufacture surgical instruments and other edged tools, so he may have been involved in thet trade as well. Brunk lists this as both D-517 and D-518 as there are two varieties known. There are only about a dozen examples documented and this one on an 1826 Half Penny is only the fourth on this denomination coin. Thanks for looking.

Hey Bruce, I just bought this same piece you posted almost a decade ago.

Yeah, they're nice stamps, Bill. I've only seen a handful over the years. Is yours on a penny?
