Most all the dealers received a phone call from their Ebay "account rep" detailing the do's and dont's. There are too many dishonest coin pushers flooding the market. If the ANA is advising I'm not sure that the ANA should be involved... Ebay should make their own decision on a per company basis. The capsule should meet certain criterion and the principle of the corporate or company should meet high standards as well. Standards such as experience, trust, buy back policy, professional references, etc. Sorry to get on such a rant If ANA wants to be involved in policing the TPG market they should require graders and authenticators to "test" yearly for and with some of the industry's finest and publish the results or maybe they should still own ANACS. Surely Ebay has enough staff to weed out bad from good. Numismatics is a trust industry... where has the FTC been when all the junk is posted to Ebay. It is always a case of buyer beware! What happens when half of the numismatic items from Ebay start posting on the auction forum the ANA has partnered with out of Chicago? I think Ebay might lose a large percentage of business especially honest business. Who is going to be "cut " next if this policy sticks? If ANA, Ebay, Heritage, Teletrade or any of the so-called "Trustees" of the industry decides that ANACS (Whitman) is no longer needed will they be "put out of business" or will it be ICG? Is it really one entity or a composite of forces in the industry who want to shut out any competition. Or is it some of the auction houses that smile smugly when they refuse to list certain TPG's to their auctions unless some of their recognized customers raise a stink. Where are the problem and variety coins going to be authenticated or certified? Everyone that posts to the boards complains about problem coins... most folks can't recognize a problem coin raw. The raw or body bags go right back to the dealer to go on the market using many venues to the hands of unsuspecting buyers. The "bubble gum" holders that have popped up over the last 4 or 5 years need to be eliminated! It is a travesty and an embarrassment to the TPG industry.
