I just want to give everyone here a friendly reminder to be careful with this topic. It's fun to suggest new designs for coins, but this topic could very quickly turn political. So, lets not go there. Thanks.

Im new to all this but I have a few questions and figure this would be a great place to start. A collection of coins was finally past to me which I am giving to my children one day. I collected with my Grandfather when I was a kid but that was it. My biggest question is there are some coins in here that I believe need to be appraised any input see list below
    1916 Dime x3
    1943 Dime x4
    1891-1900 Indian Cent
    1907 V Cents x2
Tons of 1983 Quarters (why would he keep so many)
    Lots of Mint Bi-Cent Quarters
Of course lots of Buffallo Nickels
    Tons of Wheat Cents
Mogans, Peace and lots of Half Dollars.
The list keeps going and Im really overwhelmed with them

    Welcome !!

To get a good idea of what your stuff is valued at, it would be best to take some pics of each coin, both sides. Then, go back to the "forum" section and scroll down to "What it's worth". Post the pics of the coins in a new thread there. That way, more people are likely to see what you've got.

This thread is ideas for a new design of the dime. A lot of guys just aren't interested in that and won't take the time to look here. The same goes with error coins, etc. Just look at the different forum topics and post in the most appropriate section for the best results.

Also, the 1916 Mercury dime value depends on the Mint it was issued from (16 D, being the Key coin to the series), and condition fo course. There are just too many variables, so you really need the pics.

Good luck with it and, hope to see you over there.

Well~I just had a filling pop out.
My Grandfather's brother placed it there in the '50's.

I say fight on. No progress without opinions expressed.

& you kids have no idea how much angst was created when we were assigned Numbers.

And if we get a pretty dime? How many will it take to make a phone call?

Cazkaboom One for all, all for me.

I'd like to see something original with a majestic eagle on the reverse. Something like in the indian gold pieces and the WL halves. Something super majestic and artistic.

1796-Dime-obva.jpg 1796-Dime-reva.jpg Sure would like to see this. It would be nice if the US Mint would use the old designs on the ASE/AGE

Please no, we already rehash old designs all the dang time. Are we as a country so pathetic that we literally have no artistic creativity left? There is not one dang new ASE/AGE I wish to own. I own the originals, and wish the mint would get off their fat lazy rear ends and create new artistic masterpieces. Everything there is "art by committee", and then even those lame designs further eroded in the name of "production efficiency". You know what? I am willing to pay them $1 a coin more for a nice, artistic, higher relief coin than the crud they produce today. Technically its high quality, but that is because they lowered the coin production threshold so low its easy to master it over and over. Its like a 7 year old writing their own test, "hey Mom, I scored a 100 on my test".

    Sorry, stepping off the soapbox.

Why can't we just remove the deified politicians
and put American animals on the coins.

    Maybe a Wild Turkey dime.

    :)
