I made a point. It clearly stuck at home. It was literally your carr argument because someone could be taken advantage of which is what you do cherry picking.

This was the point I was making all along. You all want your rights and reputations protected and flip out when you apply your same standards to your self

Your argument/comparison make zero sense. Cherrypicking has nothing to do with what I want DC to do. I'm not taking advantage of anyone. I'm using my brain, my books, and my experience. Big difference. DC is using someone else's design and the assumption that "everyone should know better."

When someone decides to play dealer or seller of something they know little to nothing about (as opposed to selling as an individual to a dealer, as an example) they most reasonably open themselves up to the pitfalls of doing a retail business. It would be one thing if he was bragging about or burning someone who had contacted him looking to sell, ignorant of what they really have, and in order to get a better price decided to lie through his teeth, but that's not what this is. I too feel bad (to an extent) when someone leaves a huge amount of money on the table (even if only percentage wise), but no one put a gun to their head forcing them to sell themselves in a retail environment. It was a personal choice, most like made due to the desire to pocket more than they believe an "evil" dealer would give them, and thus they lose the "innocent" card.

If I offer a whatchmacallit on eBay without doing my homework, and you, being knowledgeable and familiar with them, realize I'm asking only a fraction of its true worth, is that your fault or mine? Sure, you could be nice and take the time to educate me, but on the other hand, if I couldn't be bothered to educate myself about my own offering, and you invested who-knows how much of your life doing just that, is it really your responsibility to help someone who refused to help themselves? Perhaps you'll disagree, but in my eyes I shoulder the responsibility to KNOW what I'm selling, not as an individual but because I'm then playing seller/dealer, and if I don't I'm fair game.

Selling online is a different world than in person, and for the simple fact that if one is selling online, they have internet access and therefore have the ability to research. It's not like it was in years past where it was, or at least could be difficult to obtain information on a certain product. There was a time I couldn't have dreamed of having easy and instant access to such an immense amount of knowledge/information; this type of thing existed only on television shows or movies, but today is the reality, and if one with access doesn't use it when choosing to play dealer, it's their choice and, unfortunately, their loss as well.

A mint mark of a moose would not be possible.
However, a privy mark of a moose is technically possible ;)

I agree completely. Now apply those morals to Dcarr pieces and lets end this nonsense. I was doing nothing more than making a point and showing the massive inconsistencies.

Oh, I see... So everyone should keep their opinions to themselves and let each individual enjoy their hobby as they see fit, EXCEPT those who choose to do so in ways you find objectionable. Those who simply enjoy or prefer buying via the methods you so dislike (and yes, there are such people out there, fully aware of the pitfalls), they deserve to have you sticking your nose into their "hobby" and "enjoyment", right?

Of course none of this has ever been about what individuals enjoy or collect, and if you've actually followed these threads as often as you imply, you must know this. Nice try though...

Wow it doesn't take much to get you bent out of shape.
I never said "Keep opinions to themselves" as a matter of fact I enjoy reading all the comments, especially when it comes to Dan Carr's' items.
So post on, keep this old guy entertained. :D

I'm just glad I'm not responsible for cleaning the greasy spot off the road after all these Dan Carr threads.

i like the threads though because they remind me when he has new products - I forget to check his site regularly and am glad to not miss out.

I remember going to coin shows in the Denver area in the early 1970s. I was lucky if I had close to $20 to spend.

Lesher Dollars were available for about $25. I was thinking of saving up for one. But other dealers scoffed at the idea. "You don't want that - that's not a real US coin" they would say. Idiots. I should not have listened to them.

    Nice one !
I've managed to pick up a couple in recent years. Had to pay 100x what I could have bought some for in the early 1970s.

I think the moral of this is, a collector should collect what they like and are interested in, in spite of what others might say. Of course, researching the items beforehand is always wise.

150? According to the production blog, only 20 have been struck, and he's still on the first die pair. Is this not updated?

First time order for me.......was wondering what the time frame was. How many are to be minted? (Lazy as the devil tonite and don't want to Google. Closed up the pool today and picked up some Victorian furniture for the wife this afternoon, so I'm bushed)

Same as peace dollar. 1,964 total across all types. Final mintages of each won't be known until they sell out and Dan publishes the numbers
