Once again, it all come down to knowledge. The 1903 CC morgans you mention, those dealers must not have been very good experts in coins because here in the 2016 redbook (which we tell newbies to buy and read the introduction) states on page 22 all the mints that made or make coins. CC- Carson City, Nevada (gold and silver coins only; 1870-1893)

The info is there and readily available. How many times do we tell people to buy the book before the coin and yet there is a discussion like this taking place.

The information is out there. Take 5 minutes to do some research before buying. It is simple. But yet we still have to cater to those too lazy to read. Why should Mr Carr change what he is doing just so the ignorant dont have to read any more than they have to.

I dont doubt what he has done for numismatics. But eventually everyone will fall out of their prime. Im just saying i think he is past his. But of course that is off topic.

Because counterfeits don't prove the Mint should stop producing circulated coinage, either. And the same knowledge every collector should have - unless one concedes that numismatics should be slab-based and spoon-fed - is just as sure a proof that Dan Carr's creations aren't "real" as any literal counterfeit.

You're not going to convince me this is "wrong," despite your calm and logical arguments. In many places, it only became legal for a black man to marry a white woman during my lifetime; the term "legal" is a moving target. Any law making Carr's creations illegal is an unjust law.

Mostly coming from me? That's rich. I do agree that you usually jump on the bandwagon after a while but I/we tend to see all of you as a swarm with a hive mentality so first, sencond, or last to get on the merry-go-round makes no difference.

Fortunately, with the aid of magnification and the TPGS, none of us will "fall out of our prime." Generally, the longer we're around, well connected, and actively involved we shall ALWAYS be the "old Bulls" able to keep up with the "pack" of contemporaries and brash, well-informed new professionals that I like to think I was decades ago - yep, a real brash know-it-all! :shame::eggface::facepalm: :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious: :D. Oh, and that's off topic, sorry.

Not sure what it is about your picture, but it makes the coin look polished. Maybe you need to adjust your lighting?

On a personal level I agree and have already said as much. However, once cannot both reasonably take the position that Carr's copies could never deceive anyone yet fall back on this very argument whenever convenient or faced with comparable scenarios. I'm not so much saying you have, but it's common practice in these threads.

That said, the entire point was that you put forth the idea that fraud must come from high dollar transactions and that's simply not true. This too isn't only with Mr. Carr's products but in the most general sense. You seem to be of the belief that personal responsibility trumps all, and trust me, I very much respect and also feel that's how it should be, but it's a standard that needs to be applied across the board. If it's a free for all, fine, but it should be so for everyone with no excuses made to justify what we may like simply because we like it.

How many times have you felt the need to fling the "ignorant", "hater", etc poo without provocation? It's all there in past threads...

Oh, and as for the "hive mentality", do see how the little "gnats" all swarm, stingers at the ready, anyone who dares question or feel differently... It works both ways, sir.

Our stingers are a defense mechanism to the Carr trolls that threadbomb every chance they get while yours are seemingly because you guys just want to try to sting something and smell Carr honey. That's pretty obvious. And please show me threads where my comments weren't in response to one or more of the haters aimlessly buzzing around trying to sting with rehashed bogus arguments

So you're denying how many times you, without provocation, have spewed insults? Please...

Here's one, and in the very first post too:

    https://www.cointalk.com/threads/my-new-carr.272724/

It's okay though... go ahead and keep the deflective schmuckishness flowing and milk it for all you can. After all, no one could reasonably expect any less from you at this point.

Twenty-two pages later, Carr's Morgan is still available, he's still in business, his fans still love him, his detractors are still critical.

    Pardon the run-on sentence.

I dont know. My point is that i dont see why go through all the trouble in defrauding someone unless youre doing it for a lot of money.

And i dont doubt that some Nigerian prince may want to sell them as the real thing. I just think people cant be that stupid and if they are then that isnt Mr Carr's problem.

You bring up good points and i respect that. My view wont be changed however. Youre ok @BooksB4Coins even if you do like Mercedes;)
