New Commodus

    I own several Commodus Tetradrachms already but couldn't resist getting another. The simple matter is the same as always, was going extremely cheap.

    I'm always happy to add new Alexandrian Tets, especially when the price is right.

    O: M A KOM ANTѠ [C]ЄB [ЄVCЄB], laureate head right.
    R: Serapis seated left, holding sceptre; at his feet, Cerberus; [L]KH (date) in left field. Dated RY 28 = AD 187/8

    Well done, @Mat ! Someday, I would enjoy looking at your collection of Tets... you have amassed a HOARD of them. Very nice.

    The slight seafoam green patina on both sides really set off the details. Cool.

    Nice coin. I don't have any Tets yet, and I need to rectify that.

    Very nice Mat! I don't have a Commodus tet yet. I'd love to get one with Selene or like Doug's Helios.

    Obverse: M AYΡHΛIOC ANTΩNINOC C (Ω inverted), laureate head right.
    Reverse: Tyche seated left, kalathos on head, holding rudder and cornucopiae; L-Є (date) RY 5 = 164/165 AD.
