Recently acquired a new Lucilla for my denarius set of reverse types. I avoided this one for the longest time since I technically had a sitting Concordia type, but this was just $20 and pleasant enough for my collection so I went ahead and got it. Only thing different with this is the legend "LVCILLA AVGVSTA" instead of " LVCILLAE AVG ANTONINI AVG F". Also concordia holds a cornucopiae. Still missing the "Vota Outside Wreath" reverse. Tray also has a new statue head. Lucilla ( 164 - 182 A.D.) AR Denarius O: LVCILLA AVGVSTA, Draped bust right. R: CONCORDIA, Concordia enthroned left, holding patera and cornucopiae. Rome mint 19mm 2.83g RIC 759; Cohen 7
Nice coin and Great collection. My favorite Lucilla: Sophia Loren in The Fall of the Roman Empire (1964)
Cool! I only have the LVCILLAE AVG ANTONINI AVG F obverse. It was the first coin of Lucilla I ever purchased and has catalogue #LUCILLA-1 in my collection: Lucilla, AD 164-169 Roman AR denarius; 2.95 g, 19 mm Rome, AD 164-166 Obv: LVCILLAE AVG ANTONINI AVG F, bare-headed and draped bust, right Rev: CONCORDIA, Concordia seated left, holding patera and resting left arm on statue of Spes; cornucopiae under seat Refs: RIC 757; BMCRE 306; Cohen 6; RCV 5479
LUCILLAÆ Sestertius OBVERSE: LVCILLAE AVG ANTONINI AVG F, draped bust right REVERSE: VESTA, S-C, Vesta standing left, holding palladium and sacrificing with simpulum over lighted altar to left Struck at Rome, 161-161 AD 30.4 mm, 21.89g RIC 1779; BMCRE 1178
Your "virtual trays" certainly are handsome, and the statue heads make a nice addition. My old Lucilla, to pile on.
WOW, @Mat , NOW I see you are getting back in the Empress mode! Looks great. I think it VERY impressive having almost all the reverses. Very cool! I only have these Lucilla to offer: RI Lucilla 164-182 CE AR Denarius 18mm 2.8g Rome mint 166-169 CE Pudicitia RIC III 780 RI Lucilla AR denarius Juno seated flower child in swaddling clothes Seaby 36
