I just picked up the first issue of a new coin magazine. It is called "Coin Collecting Magazine" and is based out of the UK. I picked it up because I was intrigued by the articles mentioned on the cover. "Monarchs and their Money" focuses on the coins of medieval England. There is a picture of an Otho denarius on the cover advertising another article "Coin Curio: Emperor Otho". There is an article on coins of the crusades and another one called "Coins on a budget" which concerns how to start a collection of ancient coins. It also includes articles on modern coins, British coins, and American banknotes. I have already signed up to have the second issue sent to me. I saw the cover and it features Viking coins.
That's quite a coincidence! Last week my wife said she was thinking of buying me an ancient coin magazine that she'd never seen before in our local Barnes and Noble. She knows that I have no interest in modern coins and has long since stopped asking if I want magazines of that genre. I'll have check it out and see if it was the same one.
@TheRed Not only is there an article on early English Monarchs and their coins, there is also an article on "Continental Sterling imitations, and one on Teutonic Knights coins of the crusades.
Subscription sold! I need something to read because I'm going to have a lot of down time in the near future.
Website says: The second issue's contents include: • Coins of Elizabeth I • The Eagle on US coins • Calender money explained • New Zealand currency • Caring for your coins • British coins in the USA • The story of Soho Mint • Banknotes of Brazil …and much more.
