Those are just beautiful Green18...looks like you have been very busy! for sharing these with me....:smile :smile
Thanks. It was one of those coins that once you saw you had to have it. I had to trade another coin and some cash to get. Its a big purchase for me.
Those are some of the best Columbian expos I've seen. I've been wanting to add that one to my collection but am waiting to get one that looks sharp.
I have to say its pretty cool to have a group of folks that appreciates these coins. Nobody I know really has a clue. Its not a bad thing, its just not something you would know about unless you were into it. Even those who at least know a little about coins are all like.. "Are they gold? Silver? how much is the silver worth?" :headbang:
Picked up a Beaver today. Also showing pics of the Cleveland and the San Diego I bought several years ago. I love the design of the San Diego. The reverse has so much going on yet it still looks balanced. I have not seen very many modern commemoratives pull this off. The only one that comes to mind is the 1986 Statue of Liberty half. That is a gorgeous coin.
So if any of your folks are interested I just created a group in CoinTalk for U.S. Commemorative junkies. If interested pop on over and join. Just click on "Community" up top there and select "Groups". Cheers.
I think you did well with that coin price wise, and you didn't have to pay a buyers fee or sales tax (unless you're a California resident). I've seen '65's go for way more than what yours went for. I was hoping it would stay out of the 300 dollar range but then again, I'm a cheapo and try to steal the stuff. Sometimes it's possible to do that but not last nite. Keep your eye peeled on this evenings auction. They've got some real nice stuff up for bid. There's a '37 Antietum in a '60 ANACS that's labeled "cleaned" that I've got my eye on. I don't want to buy it but I'm really interested in what it sells for.
Folks, how do you feel about Teletrade's policy of letting sellers buy the merchandise back ??? I hate it, because I had high bid on dozens of coins in the past few months. Only to get scr--ed out of them. They do not even follow minimum bid increments to buy back. Opines everyone ????
Ripley, can you explain how the policy works? I saw it but didn't quite get it. Green18. Yeah what is the deal? I guess they have certain auctions with no buyers fee? I'm curious to see how much that Spanish Trail goes for that is scheduled for tonight. Overall I like teletrade. (as a buyer anyway) Especially compared to Heritage and/or ebay. The search function is great and you do not have to wait for weeks to find out the results.
Well Clay, its rather mysterious to say the least. I have made pleanty of bids on Teletrade for lets say a maximum of $X dollars. I have other things to do, and the bids are sent in automaticaly. Many times I have bid legitimate amounts on coins there. Only to be told that the fseller bought the coin back for $1 more than my bid. Its awful, and it leaves you feeling cheated. Expecially when you are bidding in the $500 range with the top bid, only to have the seller buy it back for $1 more than you bid. Even though the bidding increments would be $25. It stinks.
