I rarely buy paper notes but i saw these and one design i thought to be quite scarce that i never saw before. The seller stated he had them in his collection 40+ years. The first is a fairly common 1945 Dr. Sun Yat Sen Republic 500 ¥. 2nd is also a republic Bank note I really liked the design. Last is the main bill I was talking about first. Last one is Daoguang Emperor Time about 1820-1840.It seems like a 银号(yin hao), also called 钱庄(qian zhuang), an old style Chinese bank.
Its a type of paper. The bank no longer exists. I cannot find anything about it in the chinese internet. Chris
Quite interesting notes! They are all great. I am very fond of the republic era private banknotes in vertical format. I have a few in my collection that I've been trying to study - despite not knowing Chinese. I focus on the artwork and other aspects as I can. I am very intrigued by the last one, as I imagine most are. The type of paper is perhaps the most noticeable as it is darker. But it is the almost comic strip quality of the walking man at top right that makes it stand out most to me. I think that is an overstamp of Fu holding a scroll at the man's right, outstreached hand. Thanks for posting. I'd be interested in seeing other posts if you find more out.
. I have been trying to get some info on this note, I'm not a paper currency man so I'm just curious.
