I just saw a post about a new reference book on Trade dollars on the CU web site. It is a long awaited book getting great reviews. I just bought one on line.
He is known as koej here.. https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1113321/new-trade-dollar-book-available
It's not responding. It just "thinks", no results. ?? Wait! It just takes time, like when we get older.
Now the link there isn't working! Ah, forget it for now. You really have to be into Trade dollars to buy one solely on them. It's like owning a Connecticut Copper Book. Interesting but a niche in the hobby.
Received my copy a few days ago. It really is a great book! covers all the major varieties and really gets into the weeds with die pairs, identifying proofs and fakes, very well organized and illustrated and contains a good, concise history of the trade dollar as it related to 19th c monetary and trade policies. Anyone interested in the products of the various mints would enjoy this book, I think.
Joe mentioned some of my original research in the book and I wanted his phone number to add more info for his Second Edition.
