I was on a budget before but then I realized a bunch of old pokemon cards were worth a decent amount of $$$ soooo Now I get to freely shop hahaha. After it sat in customs for several weeks, it has finally arrived. My latest addition to what will be a Zeus - Ammon collection. There are a few others that I will hopefully have added soon enough. It was my first buy from MA-Shop / Kunker and I have to say I am impressed. So happy to have it!!! Hemidrachm. Cyrene (Cyrenaica), 100. His laureate head on the right. R /: horned head of Zeus Ammon on the right. Syd / Malloy 178 (Caesarea of Cappadocia). SNG Aulock 6394 (Caesarea of Cappadocia). 1.84 g. 16.5mm
That's a very attractive coin, @Exodus_gear ! I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the collection posted here once it arrives. I just posted this in another thread, but it is a “different” type of coin in many ways. KYRENAICA Kyrene Æ25 9.6g 250 BCE Diademed Zeus-Ammon r - K-O-I-N-O-N; Silphium plant; monogram SNG Cop 1278 BMC 16-19

Rather than keep making new threads, I thought I should just add to this one. I am using the pictures from the the purchases as I have not quite figured out how to take proper ones. The Obv is def rough but I picked it up mainly for the Rev for my collection. This one was from a private collectors in the U.S. that sold it on ROMA IN 07-02-2019. I cant tell if it was purchased by a individual or not but either way it made its way to MUSA Numismatic Art who I just purchased it from. It has been traveling for quite some time so I am happy to give it a good home. Commodus BI Tetradrachm of Alexandria, Egypt. Dated RY 27 of M. Aurelius = AD 186/7. That is a nice one, I have to say finding Silver Ammon currency has been a bit more difficult than I had hoped. I may have to start moving into the bronze category while I wait on others to show up in AH's or vcoins/mashop
I only have Zeus Ammon on bronze Ptolemies. Here is one from Tyre mint. I have posted it before but this is more natural lighting.
My coin is a Commodus of Alexandria like the one shown by Exodus_gear. However, it is on a small flan that loses enough of the left side of the date LKZ that you need to compare it to his full legend coin to understand the traces of the LK that remain. That is a common situation with these. This one came as part of a large lot from the AK collection in Triton XX.
Another LKZ like Doug's. Where his is a nice light brown, mine has the uniform matte black surfaces of a Hermanubis Collection coin, the result of whatever cleaning/conservation methods were used for it. COMMODUS Billon Tetradrachm. 12.96g, 25.2mm. EGYPT, Alexandria, RY 27 (AD 186/7). Dattari (Savio) 3900; RPC Online temp #14204; Emmett 2568.27. O: Laureate head of Commodus right. R: Head of Zeus-Ammon right, wearing solar disk and horn; L K-Z (date) across field. Ex Hermanubis Collection
Here's my latest Zeus-Ammon, from Cyprus with a statue of Aphrodite Cypria on the reverse. This is from an "unidentified ancient" eBay auction - condition is often bad, but I've found some unusual stuff: Ptolemy III Æ 15 Aphrodite Statue Series 5 (246-222 B.C.) Cyprus, Salamis / Paphos mint Diademed head of Zeus-Ammon right. / ΠTOΛEMAIOY BAΣIΛEΩΣ, cult image of Aphrodite Cypria standing facing on low base. Svoronos 1008 or 1009. (2.30 grams / 15 mm)

This coin was previously attributed as Thompson 166, but that type has a bee under Athena's arm and a similar, but not identical, monogram in the exergue. We were unable to find another example of this type. Ex: Roma Numismatics e-auction 5 (23 Feb 2014), lot 353; Ex: Forum
This is what im going for next, a Lysimachus. There is one that I am eyeing on a AH right now. Though im a bit uncertain as its my first venture into a AH setting and it states unpublished for the coin. My inexperience is currently holding me back @.@
Egypt. Alexandria. Antoninus Pius. AD 138-161. Æ Drachm (32mm, 23.55 g, 12h). Dated RY 18 (AD 154/155). Obv: Laureate and draped bust right. Take your time and collect knowledge just like you are doing. I try to buy from trusted sellers. This is fun, so I ensure I have no stress and solid confidence when I get a coin. You will get the experience, especially if you focus in what coins or history that you really like. Enjoy! Half of my fun in this hobby is watching everyone ELSE’s coins, knowledge, and experiences.
I wasnt able to get a Lysimachos from the AH I was bidding on but I did manage to find another Ammon to add to my collection.
