In a recent auction, I had put several bids which I lost on all but one. It was the one I wanted most, but since it was my only win, the shipping hurt a little. Sill a good price . Oh yeah, it's not a horseman Mysia. Adramytteion after 350 BC. Bronze Æ 12mm., 1,85g.
I love it!! It's not easy to find one with such good eye appeal. The facing portrait on this type is often off center, worn, etc. Nice!
Excellent pickup! Love the facing head, and the light earthen deposits on dark patina really makes it pop. Here's another one from Adramyteion. MYSIA, Adramyteion AE20. 6.0g, 19.6mm. MYSIA, Adramyteion. Struck under Mithradates VI, circa 120-100 BC. BMC 7-8. O: Laureate head of Apollo left, quiver at shoulder. R: AΔPA-MY / TH-NΩN, Cornucopia flanked by pilei surmounted by stars.
