It turns out that this coin was auctioned off by H.D. Rauch in 2009. The hammer price? 333 USD plus auction fees and shipping and handling. In other words someone paid more than three times the amount for this coin ten years ago. Coin values do not always rise. I wish the photo could capture the iridescent toning...it is beautiful.</p><p><br /></p><p>I am going to add this provenance to my notes.</p><p><br /></p><p>Here is the Rauch image.
