Hi Everyone, I am very new to coin collecting and have only been doing this since September of last year. I got into this hobby because I needed something to keep my mind off of work pressure, the pandemic, and the state of our country. On a positive note as a side effect of this hobby, it helps lower my anxiety and blood pressure which keeps my doctor happy!:doctor::happy: Sorry for the long introduction, I will get right to my question. I have a 2020 Salt River Bay coin that I think may have significant error on the reverse aside from the doubling of the surrounding letters and date. I don't know if its a double die or dare I say a tripple die or even know the correct term for this. I would like to know from all of you if this is a legitimate error and if it needs to be published, and who to contact? Based on what I read on this forum, I am in the right place. I apologize ahead of time for the pictures as I want to present as many details as I possibly could. View attachment 1241936 View attachment 1241937 View attachment 1241938 View attachment 1241943 I have made so many discoveries that are baffling to me and I am hoping that someone in this forum can help decipher or add a piece to these puzzles.
    Kind Regards,
    Koinfused

Hello and a Big Welcome ! Good pics by the way , but put away the Microscope for a bit . All you need for now is just good Loupe and Camera . I do this and do just fine . I hope others will agree . Like some say. If you need a microscope to see it, it won't be appealing to buyers. Let's see what they say . Welcome again . Good Luck here . :)

@SensibleSal66 Thank you for the kind words and advice. I will definitely keep that in mind. I am a bit nervous and excited at the same time to share some of my findings. Its a fascinating hobby and I wish I would've done this a long time ago instead chasing women and getting in trouble. Lol! At least I'm enjoying it now :)

Too much magnification is not a good thing..

A true Doubled die falls under the Variety Category.
    Some information - https://www.ngccoin.com/news/article/1655/Variety-versus-Mint-Error/

The correct numismatic terminology is Doubled Die or Tripled Die.. not double nor triple

Welcome to CT. As others have said, errors (or varieties) should be visible with the naked eye (or perhaps 5X mag)to be of much consequence. That being said, collecting is a personal thing and please don't take offence at any blunt statements made here.

@Kentucky No offense taken. I am really thankful for these responses so I know where I stand and where they stand on the subject. You are right it was visible enough to tell there was something different about this coin. I did comparisons to a handful of the same coin and saw the differences that is why I posted it. I also posted the microscope view so the beginner collectors like me can see what I am seeing and know what I was trying to convey. Its all a learning process for me and I am grateful for everyone's input. I just hope I'm not offending anyone or hope I am not wasting anyone's time. :)

Only been a member for about a month but have already learned a lot from these guys! One piece of advise, if you get an answer that you don't agree with try to remember they are probably right and nothing good will come out of arguing with them. However, they may become less willing to help you in the future. LOL I've read threads from a couple of members who almost seem to want to start a conflict! Please don't become one of them. LOL
