New 1863 IHC; Grade AU55?? Fair offer?

    A friend from work came in with some coins he inherited from his mother. In it was this beauty and I bought it for my type set. Please give me your opinion on the grade and if I gave him a fair offer of $50. He had a red book, so he wasn't in the dark...

    THANKS for your help. It still has luster (the picks aren't great)....It is a beauty!

    That's a beautifully struck coin with no major distractions. If most of the luster is still there, AU-55/58 sounds rite.

    Really hard to judge from the pictures. I could go anywhere from AU55 to MS63 all depending on the luster. I just can't be sure on this one. Still a nice coin.
