Are digital or virtual forms of 'money' any prettier?

Credit cards are perhaps the most boring form of money than anything seen on notes.;)

Seriously, did anyone REALLY believe the new note would deviate so drastically in design from the other denominations updates of the last several years? and at that, that the Treasury would have put aesthetics ahead of security features? Come on already!

it's the orange color that gets me... so ugly! i like the $5, at least it is easy on the eyes.

Who cares, it's just another unbacked paper promise.

I like the large $100 on the back of the bill. I think it looks nice.

Don't like the front though with the blue bar on it.

I do, for one. This is after all a numismatic collectors forum, not a political forum concerning FIAT currency. I'm sure I'm not alone amongst those who "care" about the new Series for its technological innovations, security matters, and in regards to the history of US currency. :thumb:

Okay, technically, the Educational materials say it's Gold not orange.

I have to assume the blue bar is not just a dashed line of blue ink, but one of the reflective strips that many foreign notes have had for the past 10 years or so. A scan or photo of this strip could end up looking blue, but it wouldn't look blue on the real note.

Personally I think the new 100 looks pretty much as expected, and closer to a lot of the foreign notes we see today (of which most folks would also yearn for the artistry we had 70-80 years ago).

Dave, that blue stripe that everyone is dissing, according to the Educational material which anyone can download and read from the website, says:

Ah, ok so it's a bit different than I thought. Will be interesting to see that in person, I suspect it will look different from the image we're seeing here.

My thoughts exactly. I looks pretty much the same with some added color. Guess thats the best we can hope for in this country these days.

It's really not just added color. There are two significant technologies added. Everyone really should go to the web site and read about the new color-shift ink technology and the 3-D security ribbon. newmoney.gov

I was hoping some day U.S, Currency would add some color to their notes like many of the beautiful obsoletes & notes from around the world, but this is not what I wanted at all.I think the "Green Back" will always distinguish our currency on the back & that I think is a good idea but this new design would have been nice with a colorful vignette on the front.
