New in my collection Nerva, 96 – 98 As 97, Æ 10.84 g. Laureate head r. Rev. Fortuna standing l. holing rudder and cornucopiae. C 68. BMC 130. RIC 83. CBN 116. nerva is welcome
The engravers don't seem to have ever tried to make him look attractive. What a nose! This one was probably caught up in a farm implement and even it did not improve his schnazolla.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I be holding this dupondius so I think it is beautiful. Being fourree does nothing for overall beauty but the portrait work here was not bad.
Some portrait of his are of good artistry. I won't say the guy is handsome, but I like the style on this dupondius (I my collection for 30+ years) Nerva, Dupondius minted in Rome, 97 AD IMP NERVA CAES AVG P M TRP COS III PP, radiate head of Nerva right LIBERTAS PUBLICA, Liberty standing left, SC in field 13,87 gr Ref : Cohen #116, RCV #3059 Q
Nice Nervas everyone! Except for @Bing - Sheesh, sorry bro, I gotta draw the line somewhere, lol. Did the dog eat your homework? Here's my best bust...
Oh, you don't like my Nerva? Dems fightin' words! Actually, I got that in a lot of uncleaned coins a few years back. I don't understand what's not to like. Well, how about a slightly better Nerva:
Super lookin' OP-Nerva ... congrats, ro Yah, I love the sweet ol' Nerva snout (great side-profile on this dude, eh?) Nerva, AR Didrachm CAPPADOCIA, Caesaraea-Eusebia AD 96-98 Struck AD 98 Diameter: 20 x 22 mm Weight: 6.64 grams Obverse: Laureate head right Reverse: Club set on ground; date in legend ... yes, my reverse is upside-down (I think it looks cool as a baseball bat)
More Nerva (and I thought his coins were somewhat rare)... COS IIII is rarer than most, as it was only struck in january 98 AD.
