Hi everyone. When going through one of my trays yesterday I came across this Nero as. I've always had some doubts about it, a nagging suspicion in the back of my mind I've always tied to suppress.; it came after all from a trusted source, after all. I so want to enjoy the coin, but as it stands I just can't. Here we go: 29mm, 10,58 gr. The bad: - bubbles - fading border on the reverse at 9h - odd-looking bubble in front of N's hairline. - in the faded (NER)O legend the coin is thicker than the rest, not thinner, as you would expect. The good: - the discolorations on obv. and rev. seem to suggest that it has been treated for B.D. - source looks legit (V-coins) - style doesn't arouse suspicion ( at least in my, admittedly inexpert, eye) - when inspecting the coin today I noticed some green in N's ear. ( ok, really bad news, but, unless BD strikes in modern coins as well, it suggests authentic ) No pics of the edge, but it looks good. No casting rim, no visible filing. It's not in the 'Fake Ancient Coins Reports'. Opinions? Thanks in advance for all input. -
