I posted this coin last week in my Antioch collection poster but I’d like to hi-light it and show it off again by itself. It has become one of my favorite non-Judaean coins although my Vespasian from Antioch is a close second-place. Nero in the lower left—Vespasian in the lower right
Great graphic and coins @Deacon Ray especially middle 2nd row Here is my Nero Nero Year 110, 60/61 AD Antioch Mint AR Tetradrachm Obvs: NEPΩNOΣ KAIΣAP OΣ ΣEBAΣTOY, Nero laureate right wearing aegis Revs: Eagle left on thunderbolt; palm branch before. H IP to right 23x27mm, 14.8g Ref: BMC cf 20.174.192
Here is another Nero tet from my collection . Deacon Ray, I think you've got the wrong Ceasarean date listed in your description , it should be 112, not 123. AD 63/64.
Thanks for the advice, @Al Kowsky ! I had another correction also. My AR Vespasian was listed as an Æ. Also, your Nero tetradrachm is beautiful!
Nero Antioch: Antioch, Syria Nero Regnal year 8, Caesarian year 110, (AD 61/62) AR Tetradrachm 25 mm x 14.05 grams Obverse: NERWNOS KAISAROS SEBASTOU, Laureate bust right, wearing aegis. Reverse: Eagle standing left on thunderbolt, palm branch before, H/IP behind. Ref: RPC4182 Ex: @Ancientnoob The Great!
Thank you. Been working on it for the past year and a half. My goal is for it to be the easiest and quickest way for anyone to identify a coin. Come a long way but still a LOT more work to do.
